get your run on

Posted on Thursday, September 13, 2007 at 09:53PM by Registered CommenterFred in | Comments26 Comments

If any of you other photographers are anything like me, you find yourself spending more time than you would like in front of your computer monitors...sitting. And sitting.

And sitting some more.

So in the wake of the new iPod Nano announcement, we're going to run...Nike+ style.  The first one to 30 miles wins.  The prize?  I figure we could all use more blog traffic, so all the losers have to link the winner's blog in a post announcing who the winner of the race is.  Also, all the losers must vow to email a $5 iTunes gift certificate to the winner.  You must have an iPod Nano and the Nike+ sensor in order to track your run on Nike.com.  So strap on your armbands, lace up your Nikes and sweat to your latest workout mix.

The invites for the race will go out September 16th...so leave a comment and be sure to fill out the blank with your email address if you want to compete.  This says, "I want to get off my lazy bum and run."  If you receive an invite and change your mind about getting fit and feeling good, then you can decline.

*If you run your personal best 3 mile run and you forget your sensor...it's as if you never ran at all.  I don't want to hear about how you ran 2 miles at the gym with your personal trainer and forgot to wear your sensor (Sara France).  It won't count.  The Nike.com website is the score keeper, it's out of my hands. May the best jogger/runner win.

**Special thanks to my buddy Nick for providing the image above from his Nike shoot in Sao Paulo.

I love it!

My favorite line: If you run your personal best 3 mile run and you forget your sensor...it's as if you never ran at all. I don't want to hear about how you ran 2 miles at the gym with your personal trainer and forgot to wear your sensor (Sara France)

ipod nano: $149.
Nike shoes: $100.
Nike plus Sensor: $30
Winning a $5 gift card from all the participants: potentially worth lots of free music

Watching Egan figure out how to run AND work on his laptop at the same time: priceless ;)

I'm in.

I want to get off my lazy bum and run!

I'm SO down! And by the way: I did run my personal best 3 miler yesterday (31 min) and managed to remember my sensor. Too bad the contest hasn't started yet!

I really don't think I'll win though, but here goes! I've just been LOVIN' running lately.

man i want to do this. i'm definitely guilty of spending to much time sitting and not doing much else. sadly though, i'm lacking the funds for a nano. anyone upgrading to the new nano and have a old one they'd like to give away?

Of course I am in. I would just like to clerify that I WON that race by a LANDSLIDE even without wearing my sensor on those runs! Don't forget that Mr. Egan ;) You are really going to bring it this time right? :)

ok... i so want in, but I can't fit into the nike shoes (such a bummer). does anyone know how to use the sensor with other shoes than nike?

If you can't wear or don't want to wear Nikes then you can buy a pouch for the sensor that ties to your shoelaces. Check it out here: http://www.macmall.com/macmall/shop/detail.asp?dpno=7167339&Redir=1&description=Shoewallet%2520Active%2520Gear-iPod%2520Sport%2520Sensor%2520Shoewallet-MP3%2520Players%2520&%2520Accessories

I'm so in!!! But, do you have to be a photographer to particpate in this race?
September 13, 2007 | Unregistered CommenterCaroline

I SO want to do this...but I'm sure I'd run 30 miles in the first day...and I don't want to make y'all look bad. So...yeah...I'll refrain and do Fred Egan a great favor! :D
Just kidding...if I get the sensor in time, I'll totally join the fun! :)

okay, okay. I will succumb to the bullying ;) I'm in.

Okay...if I can get the equipment I guess I have to challenge Kelley and make sure she is getting her run in. You know sort of a checks and balances. If it is not too late.
